It’s been 25 days since I last posted anything. There are reasons for this: personal issues, moving to a different country, spotty internet access. I’m sorry for not making mention of it earlier; it was always on my mind, but I’ve had a whole mountain of other things to get sorted out.
The blog isn’t dead, but I can’t give it the attention it deserves right now. As much as I’d like to, there are other things that take priority. I’m not going to go into them, this isn’t my personal blog, it’s a news site.
I can’t give an exact date, but I know I’ll be in a better situation around mid-January. It’s a long wait, and I’m hoping for things to clear up before then, but that’s all I’ve got for now.
For everyone still checking in, thank you. Fleet Review will be back, don’t you worry.
Wargaming seems to love infographics, and while some of the figures seem a bit off, they’re pretty cool to see. It feels like the game has come quite far in only 11 patches since the Closed Beta, and hopefully things will get even better in the coming year.
Terribly low NA server population always makes me sad, though.
A post by Sub_Octavian on the NA forums says that there are plans – nothing at all confirmed yet – to reduce bow armour for all high-tier battleships from 32mm, allowing all affected battleships to overmatch each others’ bow armour, hopefully preventing high-tier battleship-on-battleship combat from being a bit stale. Here’s the forum quote:
Montana is not perfectly balanced now, but we already gave her some love in 0.5.6. We will for sure continue working on her (as on balancing other ships) further on. There are also some problems with high-tier US cruisers – and it will be solved, too.
But frankly speaking, I read about national bias all the time. The difference is that on RU server its “you want USSR ships to be worse” and here it is vice versa
And in reality, there is nothing like that. We don’t care for nations/politics, we develop MMO action game, and there is question of balancing different units/unit groups. This is it.
We appreciate you guys being constructive.
Changes to top-tier BB armor are being discussed (and will be proto-tested on ST), which potentially will result in overmatching bow and aft plating of all top-tier BBs by each other. Then it will be matter of traverse armor durability (and Yamato should be good at it anyways, but she won’t be totally invincible to AP Montana in frontal engagement anymore).
This is one risky change, so we will be careful about it. But it might just solve the problem (or at least contribute to the solution) of top-tier balance of BBs as they won’t be able to ignore each other as often happens now.
As for Montana deck – we will try to squeeze increase to 38 mm into 0.5.12, but no promises for now. We’ll see.
Thank you and have a nice day.
This would probably be a buff for Montana while also being a nerf to Yamato, Bismarck, and possibly Tirpitz. We’ll see what happens; this is quite a big change.

Way back when, a special Taiwanese commemorative flag was added to the game, hidden in the files and not really doing much. Now, only on the ASIA server, there’s an incredibly easy mission which gives you the flag once you’ve completed it.
Really, all you need to do is play a tier 2 or higher ship and win a match. Simple, unless the universe decides to hate you all of a sudden.
That weird World of Tanks smartphone game, World of Tanks Blitz, will soon have a map featuring the mighty battleship Yamato!
Or, at least, an… interesting interpretation of the Japanese battleship Yamato. See, this is why we need to be at least a little thankful for the hard work that the WoWs modellers do on the in-game ships. The models might not be flawless yet, but they’re certainly far from bad.
I don’t even know. I have no words.
Apparently WG brought on the actor Steven Seagal to do something with WoWs, from what I can gather. What is he doing? And why? It’s all a mystery. This is the weirdest official news I’ve seen so far.
It’s not even April!
If you’re on the EU server, you can now buy Scharnhorst! I don’t know why exactly there was a delay between EU and NA – or why NA got it first to begin with – but that’s in the past now.
You can buy her bundled or on her own, and the biggest bundle also includes this fancy commemorative flag:
She’s a very fun ship, but also very punishing if you don’t play her properly. Scharnhorst isn’t really a battleship like the regular ones in game; treat her more like a cruiser and go after enemy cruisers. She can tank quite a lot of damage if you angle her right, though, so don’t forget about your armour.
